Title : Improving Pharmacogenetics through bioinformatics

Abstract :

With the growing increase of drug development, new drugs are being put on the market everyday, while others are
fading out. But who really knows what effects a drug will have on a person. The answer is no one can unless you
fully sequence a genome, and find relationships from that individual to the general population and try to
rationalize a comparison. With full genome sequencing, as well as medical data, a doctor could find out what has
worked with people with similar gene sequences, find out which medicines won’t work due to mutated genes that
code for a functional enzyme, and find out which medications will work due to the patients genome as well as
what has worked for others with similar deficiencies/mutations. The goal of pharmacogenetics is to provide the
patient with the right prescription at the right dosage, and we believe this software will aid in the process
